KEY-YOU Project

The KEY-YOU Project (Creative Knowledge & Diversity-oriented Engagement for Youth UNLOCKED Participation) is an innovative Erasmus+ initiative designed to empower young people across Europe to actively participate in civic and democratic life.

In a time when many young people especially those facing social, economic, or educational barriers feel disconnected from decision-making processes, KEY-YOU introduces a fresh, engaging approach to civic education. Combining game-based learning, inclusive methodologies, and digital innovation, the project transforms complex civic concepts into accessible, interactive experiences.

At the core of KEY-YOU is the development of a digital civic-education escape room, supported by complementary tools such as boardable flashcards and participatory learning activities. These tools help young people understand their rights, navigate EU and local decision-making systems, and discover practical ways to get involved.

The project directly engages young people aged 18–30 (with a strong focus on NEETs and those with fewer opportunities) and equips youth workers with adaptable, evidence-based tools to foster participation, equality, and inclusion.

KEY-YOU envisions a Europe where young people are not passive observers but active contributors to democratic life, capable of shaping their communities and influencing the future.
