About Us

KEY-YOU is a collaborative European initiative funded under the Erasmus+ programme (KA220-YOU), bringing together partner organisations from Germany, Portugal, Greece, and Slovenia. The project addresses a critical gap in contemporary civic education, namely the limited access of young people particularly those with fewer opportunities to inclusive, engaging, and accessible pathways into democratic participation. In response, KEY-YOU seeks to transform civic education into an interactive and meaningful learning experience by integrating game-based learning, non-formal education methodologies, participatory co-creation processes, and digital innovation. The project’s primary objective is to empower young people to understand their civic rights and responsibilities, actively engage with European and local decision-making processes, and develop the confidence and competencies required for sustained participation in democratic life. Through its inclusive and action-oriented approach, KEY-YOU ensures that learning extends beyond theoretical knowledge to practical application. The project directly involves 320 young people at least half of whom are individuals with fewer opportunities as well as 120 youth workers, while also generating broader benefits for local communities and stakeholders. Ultimately, KEY-YOU functions as a comprehensive toolkit for democratic empowerment, linking experiential learning with tangible opportunities for civic engagement.
